The best way to earn money? - Guild Wars Forums

OK I understand that there are a lot of ways to earn money in GW. Kill stuff, sell loot. Salvage stuff, sell stacks of comps to merchants or people, etc. But I feel like I'm caught in a constant fluctuation of a few hundred gold. If I just sell everything I get, then I'm spending a lot of money buying comps for armor or whatever. If I keep salvaging stuff, I'm forced to keep spending 100g for salvage kits that never seem to last me very long. And of course there's the constant identification kit purchases as well.

Basically what I'd like to know is what is the happy medium? I'm a Monk/mesmer, what particular items should i salvage that have the best chances of producing comps useful to me? What kinds of drops are best just sold to merchants?

Also, do precious items (once identified as such) yield higher returns on salvaging or no?

Please pardon if these questions are answered elsewhere. The wealth of knowledge available for GW is both exhaustive and often less than stellar at the same time
